  A true sailing enthusiast CANNOT avoid sailing up the Guadalquivir up to Seville. The navigation of the Guadalquivir is not binding but must be planned carefully by contacting the: Port Authority of Seville,  T +34 954 24 73 00 -  puertodesevilla@apsevilla.com The port authority releases all the informations relating the tides and relative timetables to be respected for navigation up to the first dam lock (buoy n.72) where you must arrive on time in the late evening for the dam to open and then continue the navigation to the drawbridge entrance to the center of Seville. It's a full day of motoring because sailing is prohibited. The peculiarity of this navigation is to plan well your average speed in order to be able to arrive at the locks and the drawbridge at the booked times. Sept 29th 2019 - The first 600 miles to become good friends

(First) Sailing from Santa Margherita (GE) to Marina di Pisa Finally I am going to get to know you better...let's sail for one hundred miles together, just me and you Pius! We reached the Arno, the river that after crossing Tuscany passes through Florence and Pisa, one of the 4 A ncients   Marine  Republics.    The Arno is navigable for some miles until the first bridge, then with a tender rib you can reach easily Pisa and then Florence among dozens of "Bilancioni" an ancient way of fishing small fishes. In Arnovecchio, an old historic small harbour on the Arno, I introduced Pius to  Pippus, our dear and beloved old Swan 44 S&S . We were moored next to the Natural Reserve of San Rossore Migliarino  with hundreds of deer, fawns and wild boars free to run about among the oak forest and the Arno river. And in the background you can see the Apuan Alps where the best marble in the world has been mined since the 1st Century B.C.   A new low pressure...

13-29th June, Calvi becomes our place of care

  In Calvi at the Aire de carenage  we had the chance to find #1 TRAVEL LIFT OPERATOR  Duma and a good mechanic that helped me in removing the ZF hydraulic gear box to be checked. First surprise was the  melted  deepstick !  Temperature raised probably up to 250/300°C due to the clutch discs that have slipped preventing the gearbox gears from being damaged- Inside the gears are intact ,excepting the internal shaft  oil  sea l,  but I am afraid that since the temperature has risen so much, the gearbox body (in aluminium) may have undergone significant expansion that no longer allows the tightness of its gaskets. So we take the  wise decision to order a new gear box even though Pantenius insurance probably won't reimburse us. Was not easy to find out a new gearbox on the european market just after the lockdown period but we succeded directly at ZF. But first Pantenius  insurance requires us the old gear box inspected by their surveyor...
