June 1st '20 - Finally we set up our sails

On Monday June 1st 2020, the Pius crew finally leave Cogolin harbor after 75 days of lockdown; with our destination the bay of Portsman in Port Cros Island. 

A Paradise! (especially in June ).


One last big hug before leaving our lockdown friend's Alex, Cecile and the cute Helios on their wonderful Swan65 Seaside.


A nice SW breeze of 15kts welcomed our start and meant tacks to get everyone used to sailing again :)

Once in Licata harbor we moored beside a motor yacht,  L'erg Bleu, the only one that we like:  a Grand Banks. Alain, Hend and Brigitte. Sept 29th 2019 - The first 600 miles to become good friends

(First) Sailing from Santa Margherita (GE) to Marina di Pisa Finally I am going to get to know you better...let's sail for one hundred miles together, just me and you Pius! We reached the Arno, the river that after crossing Tuscany passes through Florence and Pisa, one of the 4 A ncients   Marine  Republics.    The Arno is navigable for some miles until the first bridge, then with a tender rib you can reach easily Pisa and then Florence among dozens of "Bilancioni" an ancient way of fishing small fishes. In Arnovecchio, an old historic small harbour on the Arno, I introduced Pius to  Pippus, our dear and beloved old Swan 44 S&S . We were moored next to the Natural Reserve of San Rossore Migliarino  with hundreds of deer, fawns and wild boars free to run about among the oak forest and the Arno river. And in the background you can see the Apuan Alps where the best marble in the world has been mined since the 1st Century B.C.   A new low pressure...

August 2021- Guadalquivir sailing up to Seville

  A true sailing enthusiast CANNOT avoid sailing up the Guadalquivir up to Seville. The navigation of the Guadalquivir is not binding but must be planned carefully by contacting the: Port Authority of Seville,  T +34 954 24 73 00 -  puertodesevilla@apsevilla.com The port authority releases all the informations relating the tides and relative timetables to be respected for navigation up to the first dam lock (buoy n.72) where you must arrive on time in the late evening for the dam to open and then continue the navigation to the drawbridge entrance to the center of Seville. It's a full day of motoring because sailing is prohibited. The peculiarity of this navigation is to plan well your average speed in order to be able to arrive at the locks and the drawbridge at the booked times.
